What We Are Made For

I feel that we, as human beings, are made for a couple of fundamental things and activities. This is simply what our ancestors used to do on an everyday basis but have been forgotten in our western culture. Although simple, I guess it doesn’t hurt to mention them here, as I believe it can be easily forgotten in everyday life. Following is a short overview but I might post some more detailed thoughts about all of this later on… as this is something I think highly of.

We are made for:

  • Movement – We have muscles and organs solely made for movement, increased blood flow, sweat etc.
  • Learning – We have this amazing brain that is made for thoughts, problem solving, creation and more.
  • Fun – We have this unique ability to have fun, to play and goof around and do all kinds of fun stuff.
  • Exploration - We have the ability to go to an unknown territory and experience whatever can be found there. (This need deeper explanation but overall – this cannot be enjoyed while situated within the box most of us live in – i.e. civilization)
  • Danger - Believe it or not.. our body is made for dangerous surroundings. Just look and every other animal on the planet where every day is a fight for survival where adrenalin and endorphin are pumped into the body… Is it possible that if our body isn’t in dangerous surroundings it could possibly have effect on our health and mind? (again, something that needs more explanation)
  • Challenges – This is my favorite topic and I guess I could talk about this forever. Overall, I believe that if you have goals that challenge you in  movement, learning, fun, exploration and or danger your life is pretty must set…

This is my brief overview of my personal thoughts on life. They’ve been developing during recent press interviews, presentations and blog posts where I’ve been trying to sum up my thoughts in short… I guess there is more to come. Maybe this is silly but somehow it makes sense. Hopefully somebody enjoys this rough overview.

And about fun and danger – I guess the following video of me and a couple of guys is a good idea for having fun.

The Big Misunderstanding and The Big Privilege

After having limited heath for a long duration of time, with endless ups and down, I‘ve realized one important thing.

That is, I‘ve realized that having good health isn‘t certain… If you have it today, you might lose it tomorrow.

What is certain is that everybody will have health problems at one point in time in their life, probably more than once, and possibly for a long period in their life.

Despite this fact of life, an incredible amount of people are currently in “full health” but do almost everything to jeopardize their heath. They eat bad food, they hardly exercise, they sleep too little and/or they don‘t take care of their mind and soul.

What‘s worst is how many people have this full functioning body but they do not embrace this limited opportunity they have of embracing life to the full…

This leads me to my message. If you have full health, you are privileged, you have the privilege to embrace life to the full and enjoy it with no limitations. This is something that a lot of people cannot enjoy in their life and probably something that will not last forever in your life.

So please, take care of your mind, body and soul; enjoy life and try to get the best of it – you might not be able to do it tomorrow.

I guess jumping in the air for no particular reason is one way of embracing life… at least my wife enjoys it ,-)

Health after illness

After having limited health for more than five years, and thereby limited quality of life, I believe I’ve learned a lot. At least for myself.

I definitely look at life differently than I did before and I guess my view on life is somewhat different from people who haven’t gone through tough times in their life. Therefore, I believe that a person that has gone through illness and got through it lives a healthier life from then on, with more focus on quality of life. Otherwise – why go through all of that if you don’t come out of it a bigger and better person?

I have a lot of views that I’d like to share with those interested. Therefore, I will post occasional thoughts about life and what we are made for. These posts will be categorized as “My View on Life
